I’m Gina, mama of 3 boys ages 9, 6 and 4… trying to keep life happy and fun during these difficult times of the Coronavirus Pandemic…
We stocked up at Costco… not sure what the store situation would look like in the future…
The day we got home after hearing the news that we were out of school for 6 weeks, I asked the boys, “What do you want to do?” Kellen immediately knew he wanted to bake pink cupcakes. He had had a dream about them with unicorn sprinkles… I did not happen to have unicorn sprinkles but I did have a delicious recipe for Cherry Cupcakes!
We had fun together baking as we always do!
And…we snuggled and had movie night watching Frozen 2 together with popcorn…
Nature Scavenger Hunt
I printed out several versions of a Nature Scavenger Hunt for the boys…
They had a blast listening and noticing nature and checking it off.
We played outside a lot that day, at that time it seemed ok to play with friends as long as they kept their distance… they created their “cave” in the woods, played basketball and played on the trampoline.
The boys also love Perler Beads. They finally opened their Christmas present box full of containers, books and pegboards and were delighted.
They can each make what they are interested in depending on their level.
We use the Cricut Easy Press to melt them.
The boys worked on their science project with their dad…
We set up the Bounce House in the rec room/my office!
Little Miss and Mr. Books
At the current moment, our family favorite books are the Little Miss and Mr. series by Roger Hargreaves. The boys are working on drawing all the characters so we can make a Shutterfly book of them.
My 4 year old Kellen also paints them as his work…
Marble Run is another toy all 3 boys enjoy. They love to keep the LOUD marbles continuous cycle…and cheer them on!
We made THE BEST sugar cookies ever!
We used all the fun shapes we had never tried before!
And used all the bright frosting colors!
They are always great taste testers!
A constant this week has been begging for more trampoline time with the bros. Often they get me out there too!
I’m so thankful we have a great backyard and front yard to get these boys outside!
I’ll admit, we are still working out the kinks of YouTube piano lessons, but the boys have the DESIRE to learn right now, so I’m going to take advantage of that and guide them. A long time ago, I once played… time to dust off my note-reading skills.
This is the current state of our dining room table… lots going on at once, and it’s important to keep my little Kellen busy while I teach his big brothers. These dot markers are great!
The boys work on Edutyping and Dreambox Math for school and Kellen plays some games.
I love this timer to visually show them how much time they have left….when you twist the knob – it shows green for the amount of time and slowly shrinks.
At the end of each day, they draw a picture and write a journal of their favorite part…
These plain spiral notebooks decorated with Cricut vinyl have worked well to keep the boys’ ideas in one place.
My Kellen loves to paint!
Just grab this long paper and some water colors….
Board games teach so many skills – taking turns, strategy, counting, we love to play them as well.
Here’s Mario Checkers…
Chutes and Ladders…
Good ol’ Monopoly!
And Don’t Spill the Beans…
Logan asked if he could make a scavenger hunt for his brothers! He put a bag of cookies at the end.
A real life writing prompt!
I try to get them outside for as much as possible – biking, basketball, sidewalk chalk, obstacle courses – whatever I can think of…
Crayola colors in their sensory tub…
St. Patrick’s Day
We had some fun on St. Patrick’s Day!
Fun easy project for my littles!
Adding happiness with rainbow fruit.
I love to cook with the boys. We made Lucky Charm Bars for St. Patrick’s Day! As you can see, they love it too!
A great way for the kids to have a break is Cosmic Yoga! Super fun and thematic.
So… these area some fun ideas from our first week of homeschool.
I believe in doing things that are relevant and fun! I am doing my best to make memories with these boys.
