QR Codes
I use QR CODES in my product inserts to get a customer to go to a website. This is what a QR code looks like:
If you’ve been following many of my marketing for mompreneurs blog articles, you know that I believe in these 2 things for product inserts:
- You should absolutely include a product insert
- You should give customers a “call to action” on the product insert
And a QR code is a vital part of this strategy – it brings them from your product insert in the physical world into your chosen computer virtual world!
Call to Action
There are a ton of different things you could do for a call to action, such as ask them to join your community or give them a coupon for purchasing another product from you. But each of these things requires customers to go to a website.
How do you get a customer to go to a website from a product insert? I use QR codes.
These days, everyone who gets your products will have a smart phone. And smart phones come with a cool feature of recognizing the QR codes from the camera. Try it out!
- Get on a computer
- Go to Bing’s QR code generator
- Type in a website address. For example, https://facebook.com
- Point your phone at the QR scan code that appears
- Your phone should offer to take you to that website!
If you put a QR code on your insert, the vast majority of your customers will be able to use it.
Teaching People on how to use a QR Code
That said, you might need to educate people who aren’t familiar with the concept of QR codes. I put a quick explanation in next to the QR code. I also spell out the website address for those who can’t figure it out. This is what it looks like:
If you want to use this, here are the graphics by themselves:
How to Generate a QR Code
To generate a QR code, Bing has one available here:
https://www.bing.com/search?q=qr+code
Just type in or copy/paste the address of the website, and you’ll get the QR code! The image displayed can be saved to your computer, or you can copy/paste it directly into your graphics design app.
That’s it! Include a QR code and give your customers a call to action!
