As you all know I LOVE my Silhouette Cameo but I also love learning! So this week I tried something new. I opened my Cricut to be able to compare the two!
This is what I found…
- The software is A LOT different.
- Silhouette software is on the desktop whereas the Cricut software is on the web. Anyone interested could log in to Cricut.com to start up an account and see what it’s all about.
- I find that with Cricut – there are lots of options and TONS of premade kits ready to go…IF you want to purchase them…whereas with Silhouette there are some but the focus is more on designing things.
- At this point I am still partial to my Silhouette but….you never know!
I wanted to use the “trace” feature to take a design from the web and save and outline it. I know how to do this easily with the Silhouette software, so I watched a youtube tutorial on the Cricut from Ken’s Kreations that was very helpful!
I outlined and cut this Transformer pretty easily since it was a png file without a background! It will be for t-shirts for my friend’s birthday party.
